THE short timeframes to address fixed penalty warnings will trigger a “feeding frenzy” among mechanics in Trinidad and Tobago, warns Opposition Senator Dr Amery Browne.
He made the statement during a debate on the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill 2026 in the Senate yesterday.
Browne criticised the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Eli Zakour for comparing the Bill to a system that exists in Australia and said that, unlike T&T, there is an Australian Automobile Repairers Association (AARA). He explained that the AARA is a national industry sector committee that advocates on national issues affecting all automotive repairers and auto mechanics in the entire territorial district of representation.
