(Kaieteur News) – Police are investigating the alleged murder of 34-year-old gold miner Ziggy Webster, who died following an altercation with his reputed wife at a camp at Noitgedacht Backdam, Potaro, Region Eight.
The incident occurred around midnight on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Webster, of 111 Miles, Mahdia Airstrip, was reportedly involved in an argument with his 27-year-old reputed wife, a cook, at their camp. Preliminary investigations indicate that during the argument, Webster allegedly chopped the woman several times about her body with a cutlass, causing her to sustain injuries.
The woman allegedly retaliated by stabbing Webster in his right buttock with a kitchen knife. Both individuals were subsequently taken to the Mahdia District Hospital, where Webster succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced dead by a doctor on duty. His body was taken to the Campbelltown Mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination. The 27-year-old woman remains hospitalised under police guard. Her condition is listed as stable. Investigations are continuing.
