Murder at the spa

A place of cosmetic care and relaxation became a scene of gunfire and death yesterday morning when two women were killed at a Couva beauty spa and salon.

Spa owner Kavita Deosaran, 55, of Freeport, and customer Cheryl Dixon, 64, of La Croix Street, Couva, were shot dead inside the Soho Beauty Haven at Veneris Plaza on the corner of Southern Main Road and Charlotte Street.

Crime scene investigators recovered 14 spent nine-millimetre shell casings and five projectiles, but no workable fingerprints at the crime scene, according to a police report.
