(Kaieteur News) – World Trade Center (WTC) Guyana Director, Wesley Kirton was rescued on Friday after becoming trapped in a swamp in Moblissa along the Linden Soesdyke Highway, sinking up to his neck.
The dramatic rescue followed an emergency call to 592-911, which eventually connected Kirton with Captain Gerry Gouveia, who immediately mobilised rescuers.
According to Gouveia, he had spent much of the day responding to a bush fire in the Moblissa area, with firefighters on the ground and a helicopter using a Bambi bucket to battle the flames.
