KINGSTON, Jamaica — University students were encouraged to look beyond traditional career paths in sports as the third staging of an industry-focused career forum at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona, highlighted the growing opportunities available across the sector.
The initiative, spearheaded by Javid Bryan, lead senior and sports resident advisor at Irvine Hall, brought together industry professionals and students for an engaging discussion on career opportunities in sports, including several fields often overlooked by young people entering the job market.
Bryan explained that the forum was conceptualised to bridge the gap between academic training and professional opportunities, particularly for students who may be unaware of how their qualifications can be applied outside conventional career paths.
