The GovÂernÂment has banned the exÂport of copÂper for one year, alÂlowÂing onÂly liÂcensed manÂuÂfacÂturÂers to exÂport the metÂal unÂder strict conÂdiÂtions folÂlowÂing a surge in copÂper theft and vanÂdalÂism of critÂiÂcal inÂfraÂstrucÂture.
The proÂhiÂbiÂtion took efÂfect on JuÂly 10 unÂder the ProÂhiÂbiÂtion (CarÂriage CoastÂwise, ImÂporÂtaÂtion and ExÂporÂtaÂtion) OrÂder, 2026, and will reÂmain in force unÂtil JuÂly 9, 2027.
