(Kaieteur News) – Mikhail Rodrigues, widely known as the “Guyanese Critic,” and his news entity, They Break News Inc., have reached the end of the legal line in their bid to overturn a $22.5 million defamation judgment after the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) dismissed their application for special leave to appeal.
The decision, issued on October 14, 2026, by a panel comprising CCJ Justices Denys Barrow, Peter Jamadar, and Chile Eboe-Osuji, leaves intact the rulings of Guyana’s lower courts and finalises a legal dispute brought by Leader of the Opposition, Azruddin Mohamed.
In dismissing the application, the court stated that it was satisfied there was “no egregious error of law in, nor risk of a gross miscarriage of justice arising from” the Judgment of the Court of Appeal of Guyana dated April 24, 2026. The legal battle stems from defamation proceedings instituted by Mohamed against Rodrigues and They Break News Inc.
