Five years after its closure, the Indian Caribbean Museum of Trinidad and Tobago was reopened yesterday.
Hailed as “one of its kind” in the Caribbean, the museum, which falls under the purview of the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha (SDMS), displays artefacts and documents pertinent to Indo-Caribbean culture and history, and serves as a research centre.
Closed in March 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and its restrictions, the museum could not reopen as the building required repairs.
