Mikey Mercer set the bar impossibly high, convincingly winning both titles to be crowned the undisputed Banks Party Monarch when the competition was held at the National Botanical Gardens yesterday.

Mercer earned 100 points each in the Sweet Soca and Power Soca categories, and a massive pay cheque of  $200 000. He took the crowd along with him during the rendition of Real Feters and whipped them into a patriotic frenzy with Like A Bajan in the Power Soca competition.

“It is honestly overwhelming,” he said in an interview after the results.
