SINGER Joanne Wilson said she would welcome a posthumous national award for her father, acclaimed Trinbagonian vocalist and songwriter Anthony 'Tony' Wilson.
He died on April 24 at the age of 89. He was best known for his international soul and funk band Hot Chocolate and co-writing the globe-charting hit, 'You Sexy Thing'.
In a phone interview on Friday, Wilson said of her father: 'I am seeing people are writing and calling for an award on social media. Somebody in Nigeria did a tribute and said he should be recognised. I think I saw an organisation calling for his to be awarded. Large groups of people have been recognising his work. Based on all of the good vibes and positive reviews, I would welcome it. I would say yes to a national award.'
