While residents of Welcome Road, Cunupia, can finally enjoy a smooth drive to and from their homes after years of dust and potholes, the minister with responsibility for road repairs says other communities will have to be patient.
“We do not have, the country does not have, the money to do the amount of work that we want,” Minister of Rural Development and Local Government Khadijah Ameen said yesterday, while touring 500 metres of newly paved road with Caroni East MP Dr Rishad Seecheran and Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Regional Corporation chairman Ryan Rampersad.
Ameen said every completed road prompts other communities to ask when their turn will come.
