The issue of a yet to be appointed new State board at the Estate Management and Business Development Company (EMBD) was raised during the multi-million dollar “cartel claim” involving the entity and several contractors and individuals, including the present Minister of Energy Roodal Monilal.
King’s counsel Andrew Hunter who is representing the EMBD estimated that a new board should be in place by the end of July. This was welcomed by Justice Frank Seepersad who said the case is the oldest on his docket and should be moving forward.
Hunter told the court that the board resigned at the change of government with the April 28 general elections. He added that the new government was yet to appoint a replacement board and this was presenting some immediate limitation to his team.
