GHRA raises concerns over U.S. deportation of children

(Kaieteur News) – The Guyana Human Rights Association (GHRA) has raised fresh concerns over the United States’ intensified deportation programme, particularly the treatment and removal of migrant children, while demanding that the Government of Guyana make public its migration agreement with Washington.

The association’s latest concerns come amid reports that more than 200,000 minors have received removal orders since January 2025, with thousands being processed for removal each month. Recent reporting has also highlighted changes to US policies affecting migrant children and the involvement of senior White House official Stephen Miller in the administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.

The GHRA questioned what measures the Guyana Government has taken to ensure that its recently concluded arrangement with the United States does not expose children or other vulnerable deportees to human rights violations.
