Education ministry renews call for violence-free schools

School administrators, students and parents are being urged to play their part in maintaining a learning environment free from violence and bullying as the 2026-27 academic year gets under way.
The call comes from Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Marlon Morgan, who made the appeal at a ceremony to mark the start of the new school year at Edward Seaga Primary School in Kingston on Monday.
“My wish for the school year is for there to be no [loss of lives] or incidents along those lines as it relates to school-related violence,” he said. Morgan urged students and staff to use conflict-resolution techniques to resolve disputes peacefully.
