Op­po­si­tion Leader Pen­ne­lope Beck­les is call­ing on Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar to ad­dress the na­tion di­rect­ly, fol­low­ing a string of vi­o­lent crimes in­clud­ing the mur­der of a po­lice of­fi­cer at a mu­nic­i­pal sta­tion dur­ing a gun theft and the coun­try’s first quadru­ple homi­cide for the year.

Speak­ing on CNC3’s The Morn­ing Brew yes­ter­day, Beck­les said the Prime Min­is­ter must stop re­ly­ing on so­cial me­dia and speak to the pub­lic in a for­mal set­ting.

“The Prime Min­is­ter can­not con­tin­ue to gov­ern us­ing Tik­Tok, What­sApp, email, Face­book. That is not good enough. We want the Prime Min­is­ter to make her­self avail­able to the me­dia.”
