Barbados Schools Celebrate Student Achievement Through Education Events

The Lodge School celebrated the achievements of its Sixth Form students, with Principal Martha Russell urging current students to follow the award winners’ example. She said discipline, hard work and strong exam skills are key to success.

Financial Services Commission General Counsel Sade Jemmott told Queen’s College students that education should build character and opportunity, not just careers, and that they should use what they learn to make room for others. Speaking at a Queen’s College Week assembly in Barbados, she stressed equity, curiosity and purposeful disruption, while principal Mitchelle Maxwell urged students to make good choices and uphold the school’s legacy.

President Jeffrey Bostic told Selah Primary School pupils in St Lucy to stay focused on their goals, overcome obstacles and pause before reacting, while praising their confidence in Spanish, music and other activities. He also urged more male role models and community involvement for boys. Principal Cheryl Marshall said his visit reinforced the value of education and character-building at the school.
