MINISTER of Defence Wayne Sturge said ordinary solders are being starved of food and other basic resources while the Defence Force's top brass live opulent lives and hoard for themselves.

Sturge made this stunning revelation on September 17 as he responded to an equally startling claim by Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles that soldiers were not being nourished properly at army bases throughout the country.

Beckles said this was a matter of national security as she called for answers on the condition of the country's troops, amid escalating conflict in the southern Caribbean.
