GEORGETOWN, Guyana – President Irfaan Ali has paid tribute to veteran educator, Daniel Williams, a candidate of the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) for the September 1 general and regional elections, who collapsed and died while campaigning on Monday night.
“To his wife, two children, and other loved ones, I extend my heartfelt condolences. I pray that God grant you strength and courage during this difficult time. We thank our comrade for his dedicated service. We will honour his work with a deeper commitment and hard work to ensure the development of Region Seven and our country continues under the PPP/C,” Ali said.
In a viral video Williams is seen talking on a microphone with party supporters in the background.
