A Claxton Bay business owner received threatening messages demanding money and warning of harm to his family on Sunday night.
Police said that around 11.13 p.m., the man, 47, of Southern Main Road, Claxton Bay, received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number demanding $100,000 and warning that he would not be able to open his business unless he paid. Threats were also made against his daughter and son.
Shortly afterward, around 11.45 p.m., the man reported hearing several explosions and contacted police.
