The Prime Min­is­ter has con­firmed that the Min­istry of Jus­tice will over­see the Prison Ser­vice.

The Gazette No­tice out­lin­ing the re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of each min­istry makes no men­tion of the pris­ons falling un­der the min­istries of Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty and De­fence.

But in the Sched­ule for the Min­istry of Jus­tice, Min­is­ter De­vesh Ma­haraj has the re­spon­si­bil­i­ty for the prison sys­tem.
