Police recovered 600 rounds of military-grade ammunition but arrested no one after staking out of an empty lot in Couva overnight.
Among the stash police found 40 tracer rounds of 5.56 ammunition, bullets that contain a pyrotechnic charge that allows the shooter to see the bullet's path, and which is commonly used by the military.
Police said the ammunition was Israeli-type, bullets known to be used by the military because of its accuracy and armor piercing capability.
