A 29-year-old man was arrested on Monday after allegedly taking a motor vehicle without permission, claiming to police he “just wanted to go home.”
Leroy Lepis of Benny Road, Valencia, reported leaving his blue Mitsubishi Lancer idling at the corner of Valencia Old Road and New Valencia while visiting a nearby shop. Moments later, a man of Wallerfield, Arima, allegedly entered the vehicle and drove off without consent.
Officers from the Valencia CID tracked the vehicle along the Valencia By-Pass Road and later intercepted the suspected thief walking along the roadway. When questioned, he told police, “Ah take the car just to go home ‘cuz ah went river and meh family leave meh to walk.”
