A 54-YEAR-OLD Cocorite woman reported being defrauded of $5,500 in an alleged apartment rental scam in the Four Roads Police District.

According to police reports, around 6 p.m. on Thursday, the victim met with a woman near Republic Bank at Westmall after previously viewing an apartment.

During the meeting, she handed over the cash to secure the rental of an apartment located at West End Court, Diego Martin. However, when the woman visited the apartment on Saturday, she discovered that it was already occupied.
