There is no dispute between Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela. It’s simply a problem that was badly articulated on both sides.
So said Dr Anthony Gonzales, former honorary senior fellow of the Institute of International Relations at The University of the West Indies (The UWI) while speaking on TV6’s Morning Edition programme yesterday.
His view comes following diplomatic discussions between Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs Sean Sobers and Venezuelan Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago Alvaro Sanchez Cordero on Monday—a meeting Gonzales said should have been the initial response instead of the heated exchange of words by the heads of government in both countries.
