Point Fortin’s Tameika Darius, mother of 2025 Junior Calypso Monarch Xhaiden Darius, said she felt “incredibly proud and grateful that Xhaiden was given the opportunity to meet India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.”
Last week, nine-year-old Xhaiden was specially selected to witness one of the most significant events of 2025 – the arrival of Prime Minister Modi on July 3. He stood alongside brothers Kaveem and Keiron Newton and presented flowers to Modi upon his arrival at Piarco International Airport.
For Carnival 2025, Xhaiden, a student of Savonetta (Vistabella) Primary School, wowed the judges with his rendition of Calypso Will Survive, enhancing his performance with his guitar-playing skills. The song was written by two-time Calypso Monarch Morel Peters (Luta), who won in 1994 (jointly with Delamo) and again in 2006.
