A Carlsen Field res­i­dent’s quick ac­tion with an air horn forced three ban­dits to aban­don a rob­bery and flee through near­by bush­es ear­ly on Mon­day.

Po­lice said a 53-year-old poul­try farmer had just left his home to tend to live­stock when three men con­front­ed him, one with a gun and two with cut­lass­es. They tied his hands and de­mand­ed mon­ey, forc­ing him back in­side the house where he hand­ed over $400 from his wal­let.

When the farmer tried to es­cape, one of the men planassed him with a cut­lass. His neigh­bour heard the strug­gle and blew an air horn, caus­ing the men to run off.
