UNITED STATES Secretary of State Marco Rubio claims that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has broken multiple agreements with the US government over the past decade, accusing the socialist leader of being a source of instability in the region and doubling down on claims of his alleged involvement with drug-trafficking entities operating in Latin America and the Caribbean.
He did not, however, rule out the possibility of regime change in Venezuela, stating that US President Donald Trump would not be 'suckered' by Maduro.
During an interview with Fox News anchor Sean Hannity on Tuesday evening, Rubio, who one day earlier participated in a high-level meeting with Trump and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, claimed that Maduro had breached prior arrangements with former US president Joe Biden to host a free and fair election in the country. Rubio claimed that this was agreed in exchange for the release of Maduro's relatives and associates allegedly from US custody.
