United National Congress (UNC) Deputy Political Leader and Works Minister Jearlean John has dismissed Opposition Leader Pennelope Beckles’s recent appeal for forgiveness as “too little, too late,” accusing her and the People’s National Movement (PNM) of a decade of destruction.
Speaking at the UNC’s Monday Night Report at Penal Secondary School last night, John criticised Beckles’s call for unity and reconciliation, claiming it came only after the PNM had lost support from over 100,000 of its own voters.
“What does the Leader of the Opposition do? She begs for your forgiveness,” John said. “She has no answer for their disruption of your lives. No excuse for the ten years of neglect, their arrogance, their deceit and lies. She says ‘baby, I’m sorry’. Tonight, I say too little, too late.”
