Three men were held, and eight suspected human trafficking victims were rescued by police during an operation on Sunday.
Police report that officers of the National Special Operations Unit, with assistance from personnel of the Canine Branch and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force Special Operations Unit, conducted an intelligence-led exercise in the Central Division between 4.30 a.m. and 5 p.m., on July 6.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to a house in the St Helena district, where three local males were arrested and eight Spanish-speaking females, including two minors, were rescued. The Immigration Enforcement Section and the Counter Trafficking Unit were notified.
