The Col­lege of Sci­ence, Tech­nol­o­gy and Ap­plied Arts of Trinidad and To­ba­go has is­sued a state­ment re­gard­ing so­cial me­dia com­ments at­trib­uted to an em­ploy­ee.

The in­sti­tu­tion con­firmed the com­ments were made on a per­son­al plat­form in a pri­vate ca­pac­i­ty. Of­fi­cials stat­ed the re­marks do not rep­re­sent the po­si­tion, val­ues, or views of the col­lege. The ad­min­is­tra­tion not­ed that the mat­ter is be­ing ad­dressed through es­tab­lished in­ter­nal poli­cies and pro­ce­dures.

COSTAATT Pres­i­dent and lead­er­ship em­pha­sised that the col­lege is a pub­lic in­sti­tu­tion. The state­ment af­firmed a com­mit­ment to equal ac­cess to ed­u­ca­tion and op­por­tu­ni­ty. The col­lege does not con­done racism, dis­crim­i­na­tion, or hate speech. Ac­cord­ing to the re­lease, re­spect for di­ver­si­ty re­gard­ing race, re­li­gion, eth­nic­i­ty, gen­der, and cul­ture is part of the mis­sion of the col­lege.
