Gary Griffith, leader of the National Transformation Alliance (NTA), has called on the media to stop presenting politically aligned individuals as impartial experts. In a media release, Griffith criticised the frequent portrayal of certain commentators as objective analysts despite their political affiliations.
“It is time for the national media to wake up and stop misleading the public by carelessly labelling individuals as ‘political analysts’ or ‘security experts’ when, in reality, their track records and public commentary expose clear political bias and questionable credentials,” Griffith said.
He cited political analyst Indira Rampersad, challenging observers to identify any instance where she has criticised the United National Congress (UNC) or praised the People’s National Movement (PNM). He also referenced her description of an electoral contest between Stuart Young and Phillip Alexander as a “clash of giants.”
