Former prime minister Dr Keith Rowley has accused Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar of attempting to turn Trinidad and Tobago into a “vassal state”, warning that the country’s sovereignty and national pride are being undermined.
Rowley made the comments yesterday after attending the Celebration of the Life of the late Ferdinand “Ferdie” Ferreira, a founding member of the People’s National Movement (PNM), at the Stanmore Avenue Seventh Day Adventist Church, Queen’s Park West, Port of Spain.
Speaking with reporters after the ceremony, Rowley said he was deeply disappointed by what he described as the direction in which the country was heading.
