WITH a new Cabinet now in place, Attorney General John Jeremie, SC, will have to decide whether the State will concede or continue to pursue a legal claim brought by former Central Bank governor Jwala Rambarran related to his termination from the position in December 2015.
For almost ten years Rambarran had been seeking information from the Ministry of Finance under the former People's National Movement (PNM) government on the reasons for his firing but has been met with resistance.
While an appeal in the matter was scheduled to be heard at the Judicial Waterfront Centre in Port of Spain on Friday when the case was called, lead attorney for the State Douglas Mendes, SC, informed the three-judge panel he needed to take instructions from his client on the way forward.
