Burnt re­mains be­lieved to be those of miss­ing Fyz­abad man Uag­nan “Pha­goo” Ramjit have been dis­cov­ered in a yard not far from his home.

Ramjit, 55, was last seen lim­ing and cook­ing with friends at the same Salt Mine Trace prop­er­ty where the charred bones were found yes­ter­day. The dis­cov­ery was made ear­li­er to­day by the Hunters Search and Res­cue Team, led by Val­lence Ramb­harat, in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the An­ti-Kid­nap­ping Unit, head­ed by Dar­ryl Ram­dass. Ramb­harat said the search be­gan around 11 am, and with­in 25 min­utes, the team came across burnt man­go branch­es in a yard ap­prox­i­mate­ly 50 feet from the road. Be­neath the branch­es, they dis­cov­ered charred large ver­te­bras. Ramb­harat con­firmed that Ramjit had been at the prop­er­ty on May 3, cook­ing, lim­ing and drink­ing with oth­er peo­ple. He said that was the last time he was seen in his neigh­bour­hood. His sis­ter, Nirmine Ram­jat­tan said her broth­er used to smoke and drink, and was ar­ro­gant and would curse plen­ty, but he was not vi­o­lent. Ram­jat­tan said she was not cer­tain the re­mains were her broth­er, but he was last seen on that prop­er­ty. “We hear­ing that they burn him. I am not sure it is him. This is the last place he was, that is Sat­ur­day night. He was drink­ing and lim­ing with them,” she said. He was nev­er mar­ried and has no chil­dren. Fyz­abad po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
