A Penal man has appeared before a Master of the High Court, charged with the murder of Lalchan Edwards in January last year.
Shedwyn Jones, 37, of Lachoos Road, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Master Whitney Franklin at the South Court A, on Monday, police reported in a release Tuesday. Edwards, 41, of Rochard Douglas Road, Penal, was found dead with gunshot wounds about the body at Hibiscus Drive, on January 31, 2024.
A year-long investigation ensued into the matter, conducted by a team of detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region Three, which culminated in the arrest of one male suspect on February 6, 2025. Investigations were spearheaded by Supt Steve Persad and supervised by ASP Anil Maharaj, both of HBI Region Three. Jones was charged with the offence by PC Lall, also of HBI Region Three, on February 10, following advice received from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions, Sabrina Dougdeen-Jaglal, on that same date.
