Former St Vincent and the Grenadines prime minister Ralph Gonsalves has questioned whether ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro can receive a fair trial in the United States.
Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, yesterday pleaded not guilty to four counts laid out in a US indictment, which accused them and other Venezuelan officials of being complicit in “Narco-terrorism” and the transportation of drugs and weaponry to the United States.
Speaking at a news conference yesterday in St Vincent, Gonsalves, now St Vincent’s Opposition Leader, said that even US President Donald Trump had indicated that he did not receive a fair trial when he was before the courts.
