Trinidad and Tobago national Dr Everold Hosein completed his 40th consecutive New York City Marathon this past Sunday. He is 80 years old, and this marks his ninth marathon since a heart attack nine years ago. Hosein is a Distinguished Scholar at City University of New York/School of Public Health.
He said he beat a few younger runners and nine octogenarians.
Nine years ago, Dr Hosein experienced a heart attack with no dramatic symptoms a few days after running the 2016 New York City Marathon. His heart rate was low, and he experienced frequent shortness of breath. He was later diagnosed with a heart attack and received a stent and a pacemaker. He returned to the marathon a year later, finishing with one of his slowest times.
