A woman who turned to the Court of Appeal after the $150,000 bail she took for an accused was forfeited at the magistrates’ court, has won her appeal.
In March 2015, Taramatie Mungal entered into a recognizance of $150,000 for the appearance of an accused before the Princes Town magistrates’ court. As a condition of his bail, he had to report to the St Mary’s police post twice a week.
About a week later, Mungal realized that the accused was not complying with the condition. She applied for the bail to be revoked and to be removed as bailor.
