Police are investigating an armed robbery in Arima on Thursday morning in which a man was critically wounded and robbed of cash.
At around 11:05 a.m., the victim exited the Plantation Bar on Sanchez Street to move his motorcycle when he was confronted by three men. One of the suspects, armed with a firearm, announced a robbery and struck the victim multiple times before taking $30,000.
The victim attempted to escape, running along Sanchez Street, when he was shot in the lower back, causing him to fall to the ground. Despite his injuries, he managed to continue running south onto King Street, where a passerby transported him to the Arima Health Facility.
