A Government MP says early intervention by state agencies has helped spare Caroni East the usual flooding, even as heavy rains continue across much of the country.
“We are pleased that even with the major rainfall, the communities have been spared the devastating seasonal floods common in previous years,” said Caroni East MP Dr Rishad Seecheran. “This is the result of major coordinated flood mitigation efforts that were launched as soon as the Government was sworn in.”
He said areas like Chin Chin Road, Cunupia and El Carmen, which previously faced significant damage, had so far remained dry. However, “a few isolated incidents of dislocation and inconvenience” were reported, including a student at Petersville who was unable to sit a CSEC examination.
