Cari­com has ap­point­ed T&T's For­eign and Cari­com Af­fairs Min­is­ter Dr Amery Browne to chair an in­ter-gov­ern­men­tal work­ing group tasked with dis­man­tling the bar­ri­ers af­fect­ing the smooth move­ment of goods through­out the Caribbean.

In mak­ing the an­nounce­ment yes­ter­day, Cari­com Chair and Bar­ba­dos Prime Min­is­ter Mia Mot­t­ley said, "He will al­so have with him a num­ber of oth­er min­is­ters from Bar­ba­dos, Ja­maica, An­tigua, Guyana and St Vin­cent and the Grenadines to be able to iden­ti­fy with­in the next six weeks what has to be the work­ing pro­gramme for the mu­tu­al recog­ni­tion of dri­ver's li­cences, in­sur­ance prod­ucts to cov­er ve­hi­cles in mul­ti­ple coun­tries, the har­mon­i­sa­tion of the cus­toms and phy­tosan­i­tary reg­u­la­tions nec­es­sary for the seam­less move­ment of goods. And to be more spe­cif­ic, to dis­man­tle 57 bar­ri­ers, non-tar­iff bar­ri­ers iden­ti­fied by the Caribbean pri­vate sec­tor ograni­sa­tions that is cur­rent­ly af­fect­ing the smooth move­ment of goods across the re­gion."
