A 36-year-old Couva man was shot in the back while on his way to a mosque in Cunupia on Monday night.

The incident occurred around 9.30 p.m.  as the man was walking west along Munroe Road near Marshall Trace. He was heading to the Munroe Road Mosque.

According to police, the victim heard a loud explosion and felt a burning sensation in his back.
