Police have detained four people following the brutal chopping of a 31-year-old labourer along Hindustan Junction Road, New Grant, on Tuesday night.
The victim, Joel “Nunu” Smith, was seated by the roadside around 7:10 p.m. on when he was approached by three assailants known to him, two men and a woman, one of whom was armed with a cutlass.
According to police, the armed suspect struck Smith several times about the body. The cutlass was then passed to another of the attackers, who also chopped the victim, while a third reportedly shouted, “Allyuh doh kill him yet, lemme come and finish him,” before inflicting another wound to the back of Smith’s head.
