TrinidaÂdiÂan-born NFL SuÂper Bowl chamÂpiÂon VerÂron Haynes is planÂning to host a camp in his homeÂland of Trinidad and ToÂbaÂgo to exÂpose perÂsons in the Caribbean to the baÂsics of the sport.
The 46-year-old forÂmer runÂning back, who won the SuÂper Bowl with the PittsÂburgh SteelÂers in 2005 and, has reÂvealed that he is curÂrentÂly in talks with the NaÂtionÂal FootÂball League PlayÂers AsÂsoÂciÂaÂtion (NFLPA) to hold the camp, which he beÂlieves will bring more awareÂness to the sport in the reÂgion.
In an inÂterÂview on i95.5 FM on MonÂday, Haynes said he the NFL was in the process of tryÂing to grow the sportâs popÂuÂlarÂiÂty outÂside of the USA, pointÂing to iniÂtiaÂtives such as NFL EuÂrope, NFL GerÂmany and NFL MexÂiÂco.
