From a small village to a big role – residents of Santa Maria Village in Moruga are celebrating the appointment of one of their own, Allister Guevarro, as the new police commissioner.
Several members of the community offered heartfelt congratulations, saying his appointment is not only a personal achievement but also a shining example of the potential within close-knit rural communities like Santa Maria.
Newsday visited the village on June 21 and spoke with several proud and excited residents who described Guevarro as humble, God-fearing, hardworking and widely respected.
