United National Congress (UNC) political leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar says her government will terminate a plan by the People’s National Movement (PNM) to construct a high-end apartment complex in San Fernando.
Persad-Bissessar said the land situated along the waterfront in San Fernando would be allocated for industrial development.
“The PNM granted over $300 million in contracts in the middle of an election, on the eve of an election, to build houses on the San Fernando waterfront. Who are those houses for? Who can afford that land? That land should be kept for the people of Trinidad and Tobago for industrial and manufacturing and other kinds of development. When we get in there, we will find a way to terminate those contracts,” she said.
